General Questions

What is the CampusBird Integration?

Our higher education clients and partners previously knew us as “CampusBird.”  As we grew as a company, the platform grew to accommodate our clients' needs. To include everyone on the growth of our products, we brought everything our higher education partners loved about CampusBird and integrated it all together in the Concept3D platform. Having one platform made our product easier to explain and now we can offer more feature and solutions to everyone.

What is Concept3D?

We are a SaaS (Software as a Service) company. The core of our platform is our interactive map and virtual tours that can incorporate wayfinding, resource tracking, space planning, and content management through location, data, and 3D.

Who does Concept3D work with?

Businesses and organizations with industries ranging from hospitality to healthcare or higher education to oil & gas, any business that has a built space whether a campus or factory floor.

What is required to create a 3D rendering?

What is needed to create a 3D rendering depends on how accurate the  3D rendering needs to be.

If the interactive map will be used for route optimization in a large warehouse, exact dimensions will be needed to ensure proper wayfinding. CAD files would be necessary. CAD files are always great but renderings used for marketing proposes do not always require this level of detail.  For external only renderings, though CAD files would be helpful, photography and other visual assets can also be used.

Why is Concept3D better than a Google Map?

Google Maps are great - we use them as a base layer for some of our interactive maps. But just as a base layer. The value and interactivity come as we layer your data with 3D renders over Google Maps or Mapbox, our other tile provider. This allows for customization increasing the value and functionality of the Google Map base.

Why wouldn't I develop an interactive map in-house?

There are great resources out there that allow someone to develop their own map but all require skill and time. Concept3D makes interactive maps and virtual tours with the latest technologies and information accessible without a development team.

Concept3D is the one hosting, updating software and continually improving so you do not have to.

CMS Questions

How do I access the CMS?

Once your interactive map is created your Client Success Manager will help to set you up with log-ins and permission levels. If you are a current client, here is a link to the CMS.

If your are a 360° Tour only client you can access your virtual tour here

How much can I update myself?

The CMS has everything in it, but it is recommended to go through training with Client Success to be able to update it yourself.  The only things you cannot update yourself are the renderings and 360° panoramas.

What is an API?

API stands for Application Programming Interface. APIs allow you to bring the functionality of our platform to your website or other digital platforms.

What is Attribution?

Attribution or also known as Permission is the logo, privacy terms, and policy at the bottom of our interactive maps and virtual tours. Whether you use Mapbox or Google Street Maps for your base tiles, these are core to the platform for authorization to use the map tiles.

What can you customize within the 3D map?

Everything but the attributions.

The core of the Concept3D platform is our CMS. This allows our clients to be able to customize the front-facing or end-user interactive map.

Can you have multiple logins or users?

Yes! You can actually create custom users with unique permissions and access. Concept3D does not limit by the number of users or logins.

Technical Questions

Can you integrate other services into the map?

We can native integrations with PI Systems, Localist, ArcGIS, Modo Labs, Ride Systems, Transloc, and DoubleMap.

Depending on your needs and the composition of other services, additional services can be integrated.

Is Concept3D mobile-friendly?

Yes. The interactive map and virtual tours are built with a responsive design and HTML5 to present its maps across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Is Concept3D compliant with Section 508?

Yes, we offer a text-only map (TOM) as part of the monthly subscription to compile with 508 that meets the WCAG 2.0 checklist. This version is screen reader enabled and does not use any Javascript.

For the interactive map and virtual tours that use Javascript, we work to give our clients the tools to be compliant. For example, it uses ARIA tagging for screen readers to reduce tabbing or style options to ensure wayfinding lines are visible to those with color-blindness. Beyond the TOM, compliance is handled by each client through the Concept3D platforms CMS.

How can the map or virtual tour be embedded within my site?

The interactive map and virtual tours can be embedded with an iFrame or through a CNAME. For user experience across both desktop and mobile, we recommend using a CNAME but we provide custom embed code to use an iFrame.

Can I get analytics about the usage of the map?

If you have Google Analytics you can connect the interactive map with your Google Analytics ID. You will need to add the interactive map to your Google Analytics dashboard. Additionally, the greatest depth of analytics is possible if your map uses a CNAME instead of an iFrame.

However, if you do not have Google Analytics or do not have sufficient to permission levels within Google Analytics, your Client Success Manager can help to define and report on the most important analytics to your business and interactive map.

Is the Concept3D platform cloud-based?

Yes, our service is hosted on Amazon Web Services.
